What Happens Now?

I would apologise for the inconsistency of my blog posts, but I feel like I’ve done that about 3 times already, and I’m trying to be less hard on myself.  I’m spread very thin and I have exams and so, the truth is, until my exams are over on May 22nd, I’m going to post inconsistently.  However, I can’t wait to be done with University for the academic year so that I can throw myself into everything blog related, and I thought I’d do a post giving a little teaser of what’s to come this summer…  A summer wish list, if you will.

1) Vlogs, vlogs and more vlogs

I never expected my blog to take off the way that it has.  I never expected to be this busy, jetting off from place to place, attending events, and constantly having something on the horizon.  Life has taken off quicker than I expected it to, and starting to get it down on video has not even provided me with a physical manifestation of my memories, but has helped me disassociate less.  I’ve started weekly vlogs on my Youtube channel and honestly I’m really enjoying them, and can’t wait to grow and develop with them.  I’m still finding my style when it comes to videos and this summer I can put so much more energy into it all, which is exciting.  Subscribe here to keep up with my content as I have some really cool stuff happening…

2) Travel blogging & vlogging

This year I told myself I was going to travel more, with no real idea of where or how that was going to happen… Now here I am with 3 confirmed destinations and a possible 2 more!  In June alone, I am jetting off to Chicago and Morocco and I plan to not only make videos of each one, but detail the places I visit, my thoughts while I’m there and how to travel cheaply (I am a poor student after all), on my blog.  I have wanted to do some travel blogging for a while, but didn’t have the time or the funds, and now I finally have an opportunity too!

3) Go self hosted? Possibly?

I never went self hosted because this was a hobby and I never expected to be doing anything remotely businessy with it.  However, I’ve made money off of it and I’ve collaborated with brands, so I feel like investing in my blog and getting my own domain is the next professional step.  I have (usually) regular content, and I have proved to myself that I’m serious about this, so I may delve into self-hosting while I have some time this summer.  It’s still just amazing, but now would be the time to do it!  (If any bloggers are reading this and have gone self-hosted, please give me any advice/opinions)

4) Do/Set up some sort of volunteering

I wrote back in December that I’m really working on being a better person, and I’ve done a lot towards that since then.  However, I’d love to get in some substantial volunteering while I have the chance.

5) Write more of my book

Since getting unbelievably busy, I’ve fallen behind on where I need to be in my book.  Finally having some time to focus and readjust should hopefully mean that I can get back to focusing on it.  I’d love to get the bulk of the first draft done before September, especially since I’m doing a creative writing dissertation from September to December, and so I doubt I’ll be focusing on my own book during that.

5) Finally setting up my new video series

One of the main reasons I started my channel because I had this idea for a video series that I don’t think I’ve seen before (Although it’s probably been done… I’m not really that original).  And I’ve wanted to put some videos together for it since January, but I haven’t had the time to.  I’m hoping to get the first one filmed at the end of May and I’m soooo excited to release it, I hope that it turns out well… I don’t know exactly when, but the best way to find out is to be subscribed to my channel.

6) Some cool partnerships

I’ve said in a video I did about how much money I make that I don’t tend to really go out there and search for brand collaborations, because writing is my real passion.  Therefore I find that brand collaborations tend to not come for ages, and then come along all at once.  My scheduling’s a bit all over the place because I’ve tried not to commit to much during exam season, but I have a couple of really great, exciting ones coming up soon! (one of them is actually coming this Wednesday!).  It’s amazing that I even get the opportunity to work with cool brands, and I never want to be seen as a “sell out”, so I really only take things that I genuinely believe in, and try to make my collab posts extra creative.  I’ve got some really cool things planned for these upcoming collabs and I really hope you like them!

This summer is set to be incredibly busy, and, whilst I’m incredibly excited, I’m also very aware that I’m going to need to give myself time to relax.  I love setting goals, and they do make me more productive, but I’m going to try not to be too hard on myself.  If I complete them, that’s great, but my overall plan is to rest, take it easy, and figure things out step by step.  Maybe I’ll look back on this post at the end of the summer and let you know how I’ve done?  I honestly can’t wait to have this time to realign, and I’m excited for what this summer brings.

Let me know what you’re planning to do this summer!  What are you most looking forward to?

Lots of love,

Jas xx

Aww don’t be hard on yourself for not blogging regularly, your blog will always be there when you are ready. You sound like you know what you want to achieve and sound determined. I’m looking forward to seeing all your snaps from your travels this summer. I hope your exams go well. Good luck!

These are amazing goals! I’m trying to vlog more again once the weather gets nice! I have gone self-hosted, and actually helped my friend set up her blog, so if you need any help I can help you with whatever you need! I have been using blue host for a year and a half, and have never had any issues with them ( I have an affiliate code, which I’d love to give you if you were interested), I also know some people use siteground, which I don’t have a lot of info on, but I assume it’s similar in terms of quality because lots of people use that too! Like I said, message me if you need help 🙂 xx

I just subscribed to your YT channel! I had no idea you had one which is ridiculous! I’m excited to see what the summer brings for you! Your blog is awesome and truly inspires me not to give up on mine! I can’t wait for you to go self hosted! That’s something I’m now pondering myself.
